Pedestrian tunnel in Marienplatz Station, Munich

  1. Looks pretty bright and clean here.
In reality it is always busy and mirrors are freaking dirty.

Also the color does not look that bright and cheerful in real life. I dunno, maybe it looks better away of rush hours?

  2. Lol this brings back some shitty memories for me. The last time I walked through there, I was seriously contemplating suicide.

Years ago now and I feel much better but this picture still brings mixed feelings…

  3. Interesting tidbit: the U3/U6 platform which is behind the black passages was built for the 1972 olympic games, but this tunnel was only added in 2006 to alleviate congestion problems, especially for the soccer world cup.

In order to prevent damage to the historical city wall above, they used a special process to freeze the soil before the main tunnel boring work.
