NTT DATA and AWS are advancing enterprise adoption of Agentic AI by modernizing legacy systems through scalable cloud architectures across sectors.
NTT DATA and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have entered a multi-year strategic collaboration agreement to modernize legacy systems and accelerate the enterprise adoption of Agentic AI. This partnership focuses on providing customized solutions to scale innovation across regulated sectors, high-growth industries, and global markets.
The agreement facilitates the transition from experimental AI to the implementation of scalable, responsible technology that generates measurable business results. Organizations utilize these systems to modernize critical workloads and establish secure cloud foundations in complex regulatory environments.
“Cloud and AI are pillars of business transformation. Through this strategic agreement with AWS, we are helping our clients move beyond the experimental phase and scale AI responsibly and with real impact,” says Abhijit Dubey, Chief Executive Officer, NTT DATA. “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to delivering secure and specialized solutions that generate tangible value for our clients globally.”
The acceleration of digital transformation in previous years has created a demand for architectures that support autonomous systems and advanced data management. Organizations often struggle to modernize legacy environments due to technical debt, security requirements, and the complexity of moving mission-critical workloads to the cloud. The emergence of Agentic AI — autonomous agents capable of executing tasks within business workflows — requires a robust, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure to function effectively.
NTT DATA and AWS initiated this collaboration to address these challenges through industry-aligned architectures and sovereign cloud solutions. The agreement is particularly relevant for sectors with strict residency requirements and operational autonomy needs, such as government, healthcare, and financial services.
The partnership also addresses the technical talent gap in the industry. NTT DATA employs 11,000 AWS-certified professionals and plans to train and certify an additional 10,000 professionals during the next three years. This investment in human capital aims to ensure that enterprise clients have access to the expertise required to implement complex AI and cloud migrations with confidence.
The strategic collaboration between NTT DATA and AWS focuses on four primary pillars designed to drive business transformation through technical innovation and specialized delivery models.
Cloud Transformation and Agentic AI Integration
The first pillar focuses on large-scale cloud transformation powered by AI. This initiative involves the migration and modernization of on-premises workloads to the AWS environment. The process utilizes Generative AI, Agentic AI, and data platforms to enable intelligent operations and new business models. These systems allow for the automation of complex workflows, which reduces operational friction and increases the speed of innovation.
Industry-Specific Solutions
NTT DATA develops modern, replicable offerings tailored to specific vertical markets including financial services, healthcare, life sciences, the public sector, manufacturing, retail, and energy. These solutions utilize the Industry Cloud platform from NTT DATA, which contains more than 500 reusable business components and AI agents.
In financial services, the focus remains on modernizing banking systems and compliance processes to mitigate risks.
In healthcare and life sciences, the partnership develops secure data platforms that use AI to generate insights from enterprise applications.
The manufacturing and automotive sectors utilize Generative AI and agentic capabilities to improve financial and operational efficiency.
Public sector initiatives involve implementing private cloud solutions that meet regulatory standards and provide secure digital services to citizens.
Enhanced Customer Experiences
The collaboration includes the modernization of contact center solutions through Amazon Connect. This integration accelerates the global adoption of AI-driven customer experiences, known as CX. By deploying these systems, organizations provide more responsive and personalized services while maintaining secure cloud environments at scale.
Digital Sovereignty and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud
To meet the requirements of governments and enterprises in the European Union, NTT DATA serves as a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. This initiative enables organizations to comply with strict data residency and operational autonomy requirements. The services provided under this framework maintain the same levels of security, availability, and performance as the standard AWS infrastructure.
The partnership also establishes dedicated innovation environments, such as sandboxes and laboratories, where teams from both corporations design and test solutions before full-scale deployment. AWS supports NTT DATA through joint innovation programs, certifications, and customer events to build confidence in AI-driven cloud solutions. To facilitate delivery, NTT DATA created a specialized AWS business group aligned with its commercial and delivery structure.
The collaboration creates a bridge between digital transformation and business results, says José Manuel Peláez, Head of Alliances Iberia, IO, Latin America and Consulting in Benelux and France, NTT DATA. Peláez emphasizes that the co-creation of solutions addresses specific industry challenges while maintaining a focus on responsible and scalable innovation. With support from NTT DATA, Honda Trading Asia successfully migrated to the AWS cloud, modernizing its infrastructure and establishing a foundation for AI-based innovation, he adds.
Somya Mayuraskoon, Director, Honda Trading Asia Co., Ltd., says that the transition was seamless and met both budget and timeline requirements. Mayuraskoon notes that the technical expertise of the team opened new growth opportunities for the corporation through the use of AWS.
