I have a job offer for €50k, but I read on this website (https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/eu-blue-card/germany/) that I would have to get approval from the German Federal Employment Agency? I am just confused that since the job is in engineering, does it mean that the salary requirement is lower, or do I still need to get the approval?
“To get an EU Blue Card for Germany, you must be offered a salary of at least €56,800/year (€4,733/month). If you work in a profession that is considered “in shortage”, the minimum salary may be lowered to €44,304/year (€3,692/month).
If your salary is lower than €56,800/year, then you must ask for approval from the German Federal Employment Agency to be granted a Blue Card.”

Schengenvisainfo is a private website hosted by a strange guy. It has outdated and incorrect info. Do not use it. Always use the official federal office websites providing info on immigration questions. For Germany this is [https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/](https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/)
In your case the info is here: [https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/types/eu-blue-card](https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/types/eu-blue-card)
IT jobs, including programming are considered a profession in shortage.
