Case chronology and handover

According to the prosecutor’s office, in January 2018 the man snatched a gold bracelet from the victim’s wrist and fled the scene.

In October of the same year he inflicted numerous blows on another man, resulting in serious bodily injuries.

In December 2019 the offender was sentenced to five years of imprisonment with the application of Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with a three-year probation term. However, the convicted person left Ukraine and evaded serving the sentence.

In May 2025 he was detained on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, and on March 30, 2026 he was handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement authorities at one of the border checkpoints.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, in 2025 366 requests from law enforcement agencies regarding the extradition of suspects were considered.

After the handover, the citizen was placed under the custody of Ukrainian law enforcement authorities for further investigative actions and to carry out lawful procedures within the criminal proceedings.

The completion of the process demonstrates active cooperation with law enforcement agencies and Ukraine’s readiness to adhere to international norms regarding the enforcement of judgments in cases involving evading serving punishment.
