BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man from Venezuela who was arrested in connection with a child sex crimes case in which he traveled to meet with someone he believed to be a teen boy pleaded guilty to a charge.
According to U.S. Attorney Kurt Wall, Kleider Enrique Garcia Ochoa, 30, pleaded guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
A release stated that Ochoa used social media to try to convince someone he believed to be a 15-year-old boy in Denham Springs to have an illegal sexual relationship with him. An undercover law enforcement officer was posing as the boy Ochoa believed he was meeting with.
“This guilty plea is the result of great teamwork between our law enforcement partners and our
prosecutors,” Wall said. “An illegal immigrant, who was attempting to commit a sex offense with someone he believed to be 15 years old, will now be going to prison for a long time. This is a good day for justice!”
Ochoa could face a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison for his conviction. He would also be ordered to pay a $250,000 fine, a lifetime of supervised release and register as a sex offender.
