Flood Warning for the following rivers in Indiana…Michigan…
Kankakee River at Davis affecting Starke, St. Joseph and La Porte
Counties.
Saint Joseph River Michigan at South Bend affecting St. Joseph,
Elkhart and Berrien Counties.
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused rises in rivers and has sent some
river flooding. Although little if any additional rainfall is
expected, drainage from earlier heavy rains will continue to cause
river flooding over several rivers.
For the Kankakee River…including Davis…Minor flooding is
forecast.
For the Saint Joseph River Michigan…including South Bend…Minor
flooding is forecast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT…Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE…Saint Joseph River Michigan at South Bend.
* WHEN…From Sunday morning to Saturday, April 11.
* IMPACTS…At 6.0 feet, Flooding is confined to mostly park land
and golf courses. Leeper Park and Petro golf courses begin to
flood.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 9:15 PM EDT Saturday the stage was 5.0 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tomorrow morning to a crest of 6.1 feet early Monday
afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Friday
morning.
– Flood stage is 5.5 feet.
