A winter-like start to the work week in southern Ontario with bursts of snow, cold wind chills and blustery winds. However, the seesaw pattern of spring will make way for mild temperatures again late week.
Southern Ontario has taken a step back into winter this week as temperatures plummeted into the single digits, with the another chance for snow to spread across into Tuesday morning. Brace for slippery roads and tricky travel.
A deepening trough across southern Ontario is siphoning in Arctic air from Nunavut. This air mass exchange is having a drastic impact on temperature and the weather pattern to kick off the week.

April chill, snow returns to southern Ontario this week
Bursts of snow are expected through the overnight and into early Tuesday morning as a trough sweeps across southern Ontario.
An upper-level trough may help enhance snow totals in parts of eastern Ontario and eastern regions of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Generally, totals of less than 3 cm are expected, but locally 5+ cm is possible for eastern regions. Blustery winds can also be expected with gusts 40-60 km/h, making for tricky travel amid reduced visibility in the snow bursts.
