The Tel Aviv Museum of Art was included among the 100 most visited art museums in the world in 2025, ranking 77th in the list compiled by The Art Newspaper. It is the only Israeli museum on the list, which is based on annual visitor numbers.
The institution received 1.000.096 visits during the last year, a figure that represents a slight drop of 5% compared to 2024, but an increase of 24% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. The achievement is even more significant considering that the museum remained closed for several days due to the security situation in the country.
“Against all odds, we managed to present high-quality exhibitions and attract large audiences,” noted its director, Tania Coen-Uzielli. She explained that, in the context of the war, the museum established itself as a “cultural anchor” for Israeli society, adapting to a changing reality.
In recent years, the institution has had to safeguard its works on several occasions and face the suspension of international collaborations after the outbreak of the conflict in 2023. Even so, it managed to reinvent its programming with local and international exhibitions, as well as integrating musical and theatrical activities, maintaining its cultural relevance in complex times.
