Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mehmet Kemal Bozay stated that Turkish and Brazilian defence firms are in talks for joint production and sales.
As reported by Zona Militar, Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bozay provided context for the major defence cooperation to be established with Brazil.
The cooperation is expected to lead to both joint production and sales of Turkish defence equipment.
TUSAŞ has signed a MoU with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and Akaer Engenharia for a possible joint venture for production and development. Previously, during LAAD 2025, a MoU for strategic cooperation involving the production of the E-Jet E2 airliners was signed between TUSAŞ and Embraer. Additionally, Embraer has openly expressed its interest in exporting the C-390 turbofan-powered medium transport aircraft to Turkiye to fill the role of a high-speed transport capability.
Among the joint production possibilities with TUSAŞ are AKSUNGUR and ANKA UCAVs, which are currently in active use by Turkiye and several export users.
Additionally, Baykar and ROKETSAN are also holding discussions for the sale of their own products. It is known that Brazil has an ongoing tender for armed UAVs for which Bayraktar TB2 is highly eligible.
Prior to the point of expanding the defence cooperation, various exports have been made to Brazil, notably the export of the KTJ-3200 turbojet engine from Kale Jet Engines for the SIATT MANSUP-ER anti-ship missile to succeed the rocket-powered MANSUP. In addition to this, CANiK has exported the M2 QCB heavy machine gun for use on Brazil’s new armoured vehicles.
On the other hand, Turkish Otokar is a participant in Brazil’s tender for new tracked armoured vehicles with TULPAR IFV. Otokar is also in the tender of the Brazilian Marines for a new light tank with TULPAR’s light tank configuration, in which FNSS is also present with KAPLAN MT.
