In late February, the State Police detained four individuals in Rīga on suspicion of human trafficking and pimping as part of an organised group, the police said on 8th April.
The pre-trial investigation established that during a period currently being clarified, but no later than from August 2025 to February 24, 2026, an organised criminal group consisting of four individuals operated in Rīga. It was involved in pimping and recruiting women to provide sexual services for payment.
Information obtained during the investigation indicates that they had recruited approximately five women, including one minor. The group members provided them with living quarters for the provision of sexual services and organised the posting of advertisements on websites.
It was determined that the organised group kept approximately 70% of the money earned.
On February 24th, police detained four individuals born in 1991, 1998, 2001, and 2004. The court imposed a security measure – detention – on three of the suspects, while one person was subject to a security measure not involving deprivation of liberty.
The criminal investigation is currently ongoing.
The State Police reminds the public that no person is considered guilty until their guilt in committing a criminal offence has been proven in accordance with the procedure established by law.
