SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – A new sports bar is preparing to open at the Ivy at Berlin Place next to Four Winds Field.
Shamrocks Sports Bar has delayed its anticipated opening day, The bar is still adding pool tables and dart boards, but most of the venue is complete.
The bar features multiple televisions and an advanced audio system. Co-owner Josh Thompson said there are enough TVs to play any sport.
100-foot bartop designed for efficiency
The bartop is over 100 feet long. Six bartenders will be stationed at the bar, each with their own soda guns, tap and cash registers.
Thompson said the design prevents overlap and makes service more efficient for customers.
“We could potentially go from 30 people over here to 250 or 300 people in over a ten minute period, so that’s the reason we made a larger scale bar so we could have six different bar tenders at the same time and be as efficient as possible to be able to accomidate that large influx of customers in that short amount of time,” Thompson said.
Event space available for rental
The bar includes a 750-square-foot event space with 120 seats. The space can be rented out for special events during normal operating hours.
“On Friday and Saturday nights when we have those extended hours, we’re going to be opening up that event space so that basically anybody can utilize that area,” Thompson said.
The bar is expected to open soon, likely when the South Bend Cubs return for a home game.
