The Rīga City Courthas decided to place in custody Aleksejs Rosļikovs, a Rīga City Council deputy and former leader of the For Stability! party who is accused of inciting ethnic hatred,
Rosļikovs, who on Thursday resigned from his positions as chairman and board member of For Stability! and left the party, participated in Thursday’s court hearing remotely, as he is currently in Minsk, the capital of Belarus.
It has been decided to issue a warrant for the defendant’s arrest, and the court proceedings were adjourned until he is located.
In June 2025, the State Security Service (VDD) initiated criminal proceedings against Rosļikovs. The criminal proceedings were initiated following an assessment of Rosļikovs’ statements at the Saeima session on June 5, 2025, as well as other recent activities.
The VDD has repeatedly questioned Rosļikovs. The VDD also conducted criminal investigative activities at four locations associated with Rosļikovs. Last summer, following his detention, Rosļikovs acknowledged that he is subject to a travel ban and a prohibition on changing his place of residence.
