JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Mississippi Technology Expo on Thursday brought together businesses, leaders and those interested in IT to network, learn and stay up to date on changing technology.
AITP Jackson President Jamey Young said technology takes people and the event connects those people.
“I hope the biggest thing that they learn, is they come away with good relationships, they come away with good contacts, they put faces to names and that they come away with something that will benefit them that they can actually apply,” Young said.
The expo featured breakout sessions about topics like AI and security, hands-on activities and networking with vendors. Event leaders said they hope attendees can walk away with knowledge they can put to use.
Mississippi Technology User Group President Clay Tillman said staying up to date on technology is essential.
“If you don’t attend these sessions, get continued education, constantly stay at the front of the curve, you’re going to be left behind, you’re going to end up vulnerable, your information, the people you’re supposed to protect are going to be vulnerable,” Tillman said.
Young said the event not only connects the IT community but helps to raise funds to provide IT scholarships to students in Mississippi.
