Honeywell today announced its collaboration with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Nigeria, to implement advanced digital solutions, performance monitoring services, and workforce training programs. The refinery is recognized as the world’s largest single-train petroleum facility.
As part of this engagement, Honeywell will deploy its Performance+ Services across key processing units to support higher output of high-octane fuels from a range of feedstocks. These services integrate advanced analytics and real-time monitoring through the Honeywell Forge platform, enabling continuous assessment of plant performance and identification of optimization opportunities.
By combining digital technologies with domain expertise, the solution will provide actionable insights to improve efficiency, reliability, and throughput. Engineers and operators will have access to data-driven recommendations, allowing them to address potential issues proactively and maintain optimal operating conditions.
In addition to operational support, Honeywell will introduce advanced training solutions to strengthen workforce readiness. Operator Training Simulators (OTS), developed using digital replicas of the refinery’s systems, will allow personnel to train in realistic operating scenarios. This approach enhances decision-making skills and prepares teams to handle complex situations safely and effectively.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is designed to set new standards in scale and output. It produces Euro-V quality gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, along with polypropylene used in plastics manufacturing. The facility employs over 3,000 workers and is expected to meet Nigeria’s entire domestic demand for refined petroleum products, with additional capacity available for export.
This collaboration builds on a longstanding relationship between the two organizations. Recent plans include expanding the refinery’s capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day over the next three years.
The expansion is expected to optimize existing infrastructure and accelerate supply to global markets. Through this partnership, Honeywell continues to support large-scale energy projects with integrated solutions that combine automation, digital innovation, and technical expertise to drive operational excellence and sustainable growth.
