  1. The good new is that they now don’t need to air it as people will talk about it anyway. Good old Streisand effects strikes again.

  2. Not really on the topic but in Bulgaria, I have seen people complaining that some countries are rich just because they got lucky to have a lot of oil, ores, etc. but when they are trying to dig here, everyone is suddenly “super eco” and complaining how this will ruin everything around.

  3. Once upon a time, aluminium was worth more than gold. It was the rarest and most valuable metal on earth despite the fact it is one of the most abundant, simply because we couldn’t purify it.

Then we develop electricity / electrolysis – and the price crashed

The history of Lithium **will** follow the same trajectory.

Lithium is incredibly abundant – but its water soluble. Any guesses where the majority of the World’s Lithium can be found?

Extracting Lithium from seawater is difficult because its found at low low concentrations and there are other salts dissolved in water which make purifying it more complicated. Sodium (sodium chloride, sea salt) is the principal one.

But at some stage, one bright mind will develop a method to separate lithium ions from sodium ions in sea water, and the price will crater.

Lithium mining is a short term cash grab that will have appalling ecological effects on the surrounding areas. Its very sad.

  4. Inb4 Rio Tinto drops its Serbian project for a some greenfield development in an African country where the local community is unable to put up a real (i.e. one where Rio Tinto’s tainted reputation is further tainted) fight.

  5. But serbians, someone needs to be a slave to everyone else and destroy their nation so we can fullfil the ageda of electric cars and solar panels, can’t just be the south americans, can it? Surely you want to be progressive /s
