A prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine is currently underway at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, with both sides exchanging 175 prisoners each.

The exchange also saw the return of seven residents from Russia’s Kursk region, who had been held in Ukrainian captivity, Caliber.Az reports per Belarusian media

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova and Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets were present at the site to oversee the process. Moskalkova personally spoke with the released individuals from Kursk, welcoming them to Belarusian territory and inquiring about their well-being.

She praised them, “You have performed a heroic act today by traveling such a great distance.”

The truce, which was announced ahead of the Easter holiday, took effect at 4:00 p.m. and is set to last until the end of Easter Sunday.
