The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating after a two-car crash along State Route 173 in Perry Township led to the death of one person.
According to a news release, the crash happened at 2:40 .m. on Tuesday, April 14, on State Route 173 near mile marker 11 in Perry Township.
The release states that a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, being driven by 78-year-old Shirley Rill of Salem, crossed left over the center line and struck a 2013 Nissan Rogue, driven by 35-year-old Chelsea Miller of Lisbon.
Miller was taken to the hospital, where she reportedly died of her injuries. Rill was taken to a different hospital with serious injuries.
Both lanes of State Route 173 were temporarily shut down while crews responded, but have reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
In addition to the OSHP, members of the Perry Township Police Department, Columbiana County Coroner’s Office, Perry Township Fire Department and EMS, Damascus Fire Department and EMS, Salem Fire and EMS and EMT Ambulance all responded to the scene.
