Bild-Zeitung has been looking at arts subsidy in the German capital, where the average opera ticket costs a paltry €62.20 (£54/$73).
This modest sum is achieved by the infusion of €251.60 per ticket (£218/$300) in state grants.
Put another way, 74 percent of every opera ticket sold is funded by tax payers.
Other German states put in much less.
