A coordinated assault tested Ukraine’s air defences, forcing rapid monitoring and interception across multiple regions. Officials continue to assess impacts and debris risks for civilians.

On April 15 from 09:00 to 22:00, Russian forces carried out a combined strike against Ukraine, using ground- and air-based missiles and strike drones. After the attack, the aggressor state focused on detecting and neutralizing threats.

The Ukrainian Air Forces reported through their official channel that after the attack active monitoring of the air situation and efforts to reduce risks to civilians and critical infrastructure facilities began.

Summary of the strike and actions against the air threat

According to operational data, during the strike the Radio-Technical Troops of the Air Forces identified and tracked 382 air targets: 20 X-101 cruise missiles launched from the Caspian Sea area; 1 Iskander-K cruise missile from the Rostov region; 361 drones of various types – Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and others, from directions Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtersk in the Russian Federation, of which about 200 were Shaheds.

Air defense was repelled by the aviation forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to data as of 22:00, the air defense neutralized or suppressed 369 enemy targets: 19 X-101 cruise missiles, 1 Iskander-K cruise missile, and 349 drones of Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and others.

There were confirmed hits on one missile and 12 strike drones across six locations, as well as debris from shot-down missiles and drones at twelve locations.

Earlier on the evening of April 14, air defense also destroyed 309 of 324 drones used by the Russian invaders to attack Ukraine.

Such a volume of attacks demonstrates a high level of readiness of the defense forces and effective coordination between units to minimize the consequences of aggression and protect the country’s airspace.
