Prince William spotted selling Big Issue in central London

  1. Its funny how these “silent gestures” and “quietly helping” charitable-and-totally-not-orchestrated-positive-PR acts find themselves in the mainstream media.

Of course the people who planned this knew some randomer would take a photo and go to the news. If you’re going to do charitable stuff spare us the drama of “tee-hee it was a secret! Oh no we got rumbled!” nonsense.

  2. >The Duke of Cambridge has been spotted in central London quietly helping sell Big Issue magazines.

The Royal Family “quietly helping” while being featured at the top of [dailymail.com](https://imgur.com/DuAspNR) and all the other news sites is sort of like comedians complaining about being cancelled during their multimillion pound Netflix special. If they were truly being quiet, I would never hear about it.

  3. > “At this point William produced a mobile card machine… *you cannot teach that!*

Yeah, you can. In fact, it’s pretty simple. It’s like a six-step set-up or two steps to use.

  4. Not the biggest fan when it comes to the royals.
The part about the card reader got a good snort though.. maybe he can show Sunak how one works

  5. Totally incognito. ‘Silent gesture’.

In central London. The week after he’s been on TV and on the front page of every newspaper. Wearing nice pressed clothes, a brand new seller uniform, and a ££££+ watch. No doubt with armed guards just out of shot.

    They think we’re that stupid.

  6. Trying to understand logically how him selling the Big issue “undercover” helps the homeless – the idea is that the vendors are actively selling the magazine to support themselves. It works if it’s a PR stunt to promote the magazine, but I’d expect that to be done as an event with invited press etc.

If you look at the second photo, William has a proper badge with a vendor number but the other vendor has a “temporary badge” without a photo, so maybe the idea is that Will is volunteering as a vendor trainer, showing the new vendors the ropes etc.
