CSO: Number of new EVs licensed more than doubles

  1. This isn’t the win people think it is, there’s tons more EVs on the market, but they are crazy expensive

  2. See loads of Teslas in Dublin.
    Most of the emissions are in the manufacture of a vehicle so not really the solution people think it is

  3. My ford focus cost me 97 euro to fill up today.

    Of course there are more than double the number of EVs licenced. Running a petrol car is very expensive.

  4. EVs, while better than nothing, aren’t the solution.

    New research is showing that the majority of emissions actually come from particulate matter from things like braking on tyres. Ideally, we need to be getting to a place where the world is as car-free as possible (both electric and ICE cars).

    We need to focus on things like affordable urban living and a dramatic increase in public transport and cycling infrastructure.

    Edit: that research if anyone’s interested;
