Als je je kinderen niet fatsoenlijk kan voeden, is er iets serieus mis met jou als ouder. Ja de economie is slechter aan het worden, maar er is nog altijd genoeg om eten te kopen als je werkt. Mensen die dat niet kunnen, zullen wel fundamenteel iets mis hebben met hun leven. Dit is toch hoe ik het heb gezien rond mij.
Dat scholen geen maaltijden voorzien in een land waar de overheid 240 miljard per jaar uitgeeft is niet alleen schandalig, het toont aan hoe failed deze failed state is.
Being poor is expensive.
Recently, in Gent at least, Colruyt did a week where they gave 30% off on powdered pasta meals(not going to mention the brand). Dropping the price from 1.79 to 1.25 euros. (Not running anymore, just mentioning it…)
This is dry food, expiry date March 2023. So very long time from now. I bought a lot of them. Ended up paying just over 100 euros in total.
If it had not been for the discount, that would have been 140 euros. Yay, 40 euros saved. And this has a very late expiration date, I’m sure I’ll be fine.
People with lower income, however, don’t have the budget to suddenly spend 100 euros like this.
For the same discount, where I was able to save 40 euros, they will probably only be able to save 10 euros, if that. And then it’s another year or half year before this discount returns, if at all.
And that’s just one example. Of how a bigger income means you can afford to buy more things, and that means more discount, that means less spending.
If your wage is lower, that means **more** spending.
