Boris Johnson tries to reset leadership with housing pledges

  1. To make the housing crisis and cost of living crisis even worse by selling off the last of our social housing stock.

  2. I opened the article with the expectation that he must be releasing some new idea on cheap new builds or a massive investment into new social housing stock.

… Really should have known better. Not so much Boris the builder but more De Pfeffel sells flats.

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a loophole in there that lets “property investors” buy social housing

  4. Rather then build new social housing, they are going to sell off what’s left of the social housing stock.

You would have to have a heart of stone not to laugh.

Desperate policy from a desperate government.

  5. Social housing is basically our last barrier against rampant property inflation. Granted, the tories will gain themselves a few votes on this: at a cost of accelerated social deprivation, and yet another hammer blow to the UKs economy as a whole.

They really dont give a toss about the running of the UK nor its citizens. This is sickeningly clear.

  6. Unfortunately for the gov. HA are private independent charities. Going to be interesting to see how they force them to sell their stock at bargain basement prices.

  7. What we should do is..

    1. Encourage work from home in the tax system.
    2. Encourage conversion of office space to homes.

Reduce carbon emissions and help solve the housing crisis.
