By the amount house prices have risen, it’s going to need to cool an awful fucking lot.
I bought my house for £260,000 in 2014. Looking to move and have been advised to set asking price of £440,000 – with the expectation of offers above this. This is a two bedroom, 200 year old crumbly thing. Absolutely freezing in the winter.
This is not normal. In any other market we would see it for what it is – a ponzi.
But the difference with housing is that it’s a state backed ponzi.
Doesn’t benefit me. Bigger houses we were looking at a few years back for 500k are now 800k. So actually I’m worse off if I want to upsize in same area. Which I do, asi have kids in local schools.
I’ll probably be forced to move somewhere cheaper, but in doing so I’ll be inflating their prices. And so the awful scam continues.
Amazing how the house market performs eh? Almost like the whole fucking game is rigged.
