A little from Column A, and a little from Column B 😉
Sean Finn looks like he could hold up the Mackey Stand for a minute if you lose your phone under there.
Honestly if they were juicing they’d be bigger, this looks like a lot of fitness a bit of lifting and a lot of protein.
They are constantly in the gym, the entire ground floor was redone and now dedicated to their training.
Guaranteed any time of day minimum 3 are there training.

None of those lads look like they’re on steroids. They’re muscular but not particularly vascular. They don’t have weird puffy nipples. And at least from this photo they don’t seem to have any acne.
I know a lot of lads who work on the buildings or young farmers with pretty similar physiques.
Definitely rumors about that team. Surprising how they got so big so quick, did the team suddenly get the right mentality to train hard. Idk but hurlers definitely get away with little to no drug testing compared to other sports obviously because it’s amateur
All of the GAA lads I know that take it seriously go to the gym most days and have diet plans given to them.
I personally think its annoying when your friends can never go out because of GAA commitments or your housemates come home at 12am because they had training at the other side of the country but they are dedicated and they are most definitely not juicing.
I’m not a strongman but I’ve been lifting a few years and none of them have any signs of juicing. No ridiculous traps or delts and no gynecomastia.
Only two of them (centre left and centre) look remotely like they could be in juicing territory and their physiques still look very attainable naturally.
Wouldn’t put it past any high performing athlete in ultra competitive sports to be using PEDs for recovery but not for hypertrophy like you seem to be suggesting as it’s not advised for sports like Hurling that require a lot of aerobic fitness.
There’s big money in GAA despite it’s “amateur status”.
No direct salary payments but it’s full of “I’ll sort you with a job wink wink nudge nudge” going on.
Diarmuid Connolly went from being a nobody electrician to being a national sales manager for Nike.
Cathal McShane had basically agreed to go to Aussie rules yet after a “discussion” he decided to stay. Coincided with an executive level job with a large company.
Oisin Mullin was the same, practically all but confirmed he was going to Aussie rules and then overnight “I’ve decided to stay”.
So yeah, JP has them all sorted so they can do everything for the GAA.
They can rawdog me one after the other whenever they want.
If there’s no proper testing id imagine a lot of GAA stars are talking something.
They’re big by bodybuilding standards so no they’re probably not taking AAS but may be on other peds. Would have to check their physique progression to be sure though
I doubt they’re taking steroids like bodybuilders do but considering testing isn’t really a thing in GAA and players need to be very fit I’d be surprised if a decent percentage aren’t using some kind of PEDs.
Eat clen, tren hard. Gear is absolutely everywhere these days, just isn’t discussed.
Most amateur sportsmen are juicy. There was one hurling goalkeeper who came back from break 10-15kg (of muscle) heavier.
Is this L-GBT-ove Island?
Re: Steroids / PEDS.
Massive difference. Steroids are what Arnie would have been drinking for breakfast back in the day. Result = unnatural savage. Really useless for sport, infact probably dangerous for the human body if you attempt to raise your heart beat to the demands of a GAA I/C player built like that.
PEDs can be anything from a preworkout drink with a bit of grey area substance (which GAA testing doesn’t pick up) to something like Ephedrine which helps breathing/endurance. Result = something like these guys. Top level athletes.
They train damn hard, lets get that out of the way first and foremost.
Do GAA stars have a little bit extra tucked away? Depends on what you mean. 600mg of caffeine has roughly the same effect as 20mg of amphetamine. Amphetamine is obviously a PED, but Caffeine is not. (600mg of caffeine is alot mind you….but achievable none the less – 1 Pro Plus tablet is 50mg)
I/C testing is basic at best. It also, by nature, is ‘behind’ the times. There is no doubt that some GAA players do/have take PEDS in my mind (Especially in Oct/Nov/Dec times).
Not too into my hurling, but the only one (2nd left) looks like he might have that suspicion. The rest are just in top shape. I don’t even think 2nd left is on anything to be honest, he just looks like he trains damn hard. Bear in mind that this is Championship season…..this is as good a shape as these guys will ever be in (performance wise).
Wouldn’t imagine they would get a sniff for Limerick Hurlers unless they were hitting every athletic base.
Am I the only one thinking “phawwwwooor”
The fact is that these lads have been on a serious strength and conditioning program from the age of 15 and take great care of themselves all year round.
So the guy Centre Left (Seán Finn) has been looking after himself and doing a decent Gym programme for 11 years and has had access to a nutritionist whenever he wants.
Nicky Quaide (left) is even older but probably hasn’t been doing the work since the age of 15 because they only started the serious work with development panels in the last 15 years.
I know plenty of lads commited to GAA and they’re just as big, and definitely not “juicing”. It’s the lads who aren’t that big who end up knocking them into oblivion though.
They just look like young athletes who train hard and take care of themselves.
…and probably have the raw genetic potential that 99.5% of people here lack since they’re playing county ball and all.
You’re just seeing good genetics, good work ethic and good s&c colliding.
Looks more like the male equivalent of the cheerleader effect to be honest..
None look juicey. The big lad does more bicep curls than the sport requires. All of them have been engaged in S&C for a few years which would include hypertrophy phases as part of a periodised approach to sports performance.
Even the big middle lad physique could be achieved naturally by most with less than 25lbs of fat to lose with just two years of bodybuilding style living and training.
