It shuts this weekend

Iceland, on Charles Street, in Hanley

A £20 million plan to ‘regenerate Hanley’ can now move forward – after an Iceland branch confirmed its impending closure. The Iceland store – on Charles Street, in Hanley – is shutting for good at 4pm on Saturday 25 April.

It is located within the long-running £20 million Etruscan Square development site. The Iceland Food Warehouse, on Century Retail Park, in Hanley – will remain open.

A Stoke-on-Trent City Council spokesperson said: “As part of the £20 million Etruscan Square development, Iceland Food Ltd will vacate its Charles Street store and surrender the lease. This will allow work to move forward on phase one of the development, helping to regenerate Hanley as a place to live, work, shop and visit. Iceland has confirmed that all affected staff will be offered alternative roles at other stores.”
