  1. I think the difference may be mostly to variation in diagnosing.
    Some countries have developed better or worse psychiatry.
    In one country you might get diagnosed with crippling depression and in another you might get sent home and told to stop being a lil baby.

  2. I am pretty sure this is just because of underreporting and underdiagnosing, and the real numbers are higher. People in the former Warsaw Pact countries tend to dismiss things like that just as they are keen on underestimating other serious health issues like stress and fatigue. We take pride in being dumb and trying to tough serious illnesses like COVID instead of following simple precautions.
