French sustainable online delivery company, Le Fourgon, is expanding in Europe starting with Belgium and Spain.

The Lille-based firm in Northern France focuses on reusable packaging for the delivery of groceries and beverages.

The European expansion will see the e-commerce firm establishing operations in Liège and Barcelona.

“After Paris and France, where our results and growth have been very positive, we’re setting our sights on the European market. The enthusiasm in Liège and Barcelona is palpable ,” stated Charles Christory, CEO and co-founder of Le Fourgon.

Residents of Liège and the surrounding 50 kilometre area will be able to avail of the service.

Le Fourgon will focus on local products as it believes a deposit system only makes sense if it also avoids unnecessary transport.

The Belgian assortment will prioritise products sourced within 150 kilometres, and the company hopes to learn from its first phase in Liège before making further expansion plans, the company added.

To support its arrival in Barcelona, Le Fourgon has partnered with Re-port Market, a start-up launched in 2020.

Le Fourgon

Le Fourgon, launched in 2021, aims to bridge the gaps in France’s recycling infrastructure.

Despite product packaging featuring a ‘100% recyclable’ label, only 59% of plastic bottles are actually recycled in the country, Le Fourgon noted, citing data from Citeo, a French non-profit organisation focusing on household packaging and paper recycling.

In order to reduce plastic waste, the company has developed a delivery service specialising in returnable products.

Items such as coffee beans, sauces and beverages are delivered in reusable containers.

Customers return these containers during their next delivery, after which they are professionally cleaned, refilled, and redistributed.

According to Le Fourgon, each container can be reused more than 40 times, significantly reducing plastic waste.

Following its merger with La Tournée in November 2025, Le Fourgon expanded its footprint to cover 45% of France.
