I’m from Minnesota, U.S.A. where a lot of Germans immigrated to between 1850-1950. Anyway, my mom and I love finding these treasures in our thrift (antique) stores. It’s a small piece of where we came from. I got both of these for under $100. Voice in background is my son saying, “I want to see”

  1. Those are great! Most families I know have a Weihnachtspyramide (the one on the left). I haven’t seen one that is like the right one, maybe they are less popular or just less popular here in the south?

  2. The thing on the right is a “Schwibbogen”, but a weird version of it.

Most Schwibbogen look different. Seems like somebody in the USA took the basic idea and added the music box to be fancy.

  3. Dlig auf! Dis is fei e scheenes Peremettl wossor do hobt. E fruhes Fast un schenne Grieß ausn Arzgebirg

  4. Ah a fellow Minnesotain!

Im from MN but been living in germany for the last few years. These are very cool finds.

Try to find a kuckucksuhr for the kids. They will love it.

  5. Have you tried the left one already? With all candles lit, the warm air is supposed to rotate the carussel inside. Kids can watch this for hours 😉

  6. We got a christmas pyramid too (with burned fan, because we used too long candles) from a relative a few years before the reunification.

But I replaced the real candles with LED candles, and now it doesn’t rotate anymore because they aren’t hot enough. I’ll have to update it to the 21st century and put a motor and an ESP32 into it. And while I’m at it, a MP3 player with christmas songs might be nice.

  7. >I’m from Minnesota, U.S.A. (…) It’s a small piece of where we came from.

I don’t get it. That’s something original German, not Minnesota-n. Or am I missing something?
