I’m a Canadian freelance writer. I volunteered at the Ukrainian-Polish border to write a few articles for the Toronto Star in March and April. During my time there, I met countless incredible human beings whose stories exemplify the strength, unity, and resiliency of the Ukrainian people, as well as the generosity of the Polish.
Here is a short collection of some of those I met. They’re aimed at a Western audience, in order to tell a more intimate story about what is going on in Ukraine – on a level, I hope, that cuts deeper than geopolitical analyses and news reports.
