Wind providing over a third of our electricity needs

  1. Think I saw a report where last year or the year before it created 42%. It’s mad to think if we didn’t have renewables what would our electricity cost right now.

  2. The most interesting part is how solar farms are due to be connected to the grid this year for the first time. Obviously Ireland won’t produce too much solar energy but it’ll help stabilize supply.

  3. Then why is it so fucking expensive?

If renewables are increasing shouldn’t prices be remaining the same?

  4. It’s sold to the people as being almost free energy yet prices are never going to drop. Too much tax being made on it to drop prices.

And we probably need renewables to match 200% of our demand at all times just to guarantee supply.

  5. great news, now if they can just control where they are built instead of dotting them all over the countryside like the wild west because some landowner wants to get a grant.
