Parents set to save hundreds of euro per month on childcare

  1. I always see these reports with comments of paying fees ‘of as high as €800 per month’. I wish! We pay over €1100 for our child.

  2. Our local creches vary for 5 days a week, it’s 850-1100 in various ones. Cork city area.

How many creches will up their fees before the budget, its guaranteed .

On another note it’s actually what I hope is the first step in normalising us with other European countries childcare models.

It’s a win win for the government , buy some votes and the freed up cash will largely get spent in the economy on goods and services.

  3. I expect to be paying the same as before, with the creche taking the government support on top of the fees. Just like they had us pay during the lockdown, with “If you don’t like it, you can pull your child from the creche”, knowing full well that the wait lists in our area currently extend to the end of 2024. It’s rental situation all over again. No amount of government support will lower the prices, only more capacity has a chance to do it.

  4. Not a hope in hell I’d pay 1k a month just to put a kid into a creche. That’s like 1/3rd of all your salary just on the creche. The thought of 7 working days of every month is just going to a creche would depress me.

  5. You know what’s the really sad thing.. even with those crazy costs, it’s really hard to find a spot in a creche.
