HS2 is being built to solve capacity problems and create a network which is future proof on some level. All these design changes are doing is creating immediate bottlenecks because we’re run by idiots. This creates a bottleneck, a turn back station in Manchester creates a bottleneck, so does the lack of an Eastern leg. Its just dimwitted and short sighted.
The only hopeful thing is most of the work isn’t supposed to start for a while so if Labour can get into power and don’t change there commitment to HS2 in full then these can be reversed.
NIMBYs at it again.
But this time, it’s Lancashire NIMBYs fucking over Scotland (as opposed to the usual Chilterns NIMBYs fucking over the entire Midlands and North.
Another “Northen Powerhouse” lie is revealed. Never trust a tory.
“The 13-mile stretch of new track would have carved through the Altrincham and Sale West constituency of Sir Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee, which ran Monday’s ballot of Conservative MPs.”
How nice for him.
It’s rapidly turning into HS0.2
What’s that? Something that doesn’t benefit london is cancelled? It was always gonna to happen. Just annouce random links, string people along whilst the London parts are focused on then cancel those links. Can’t have the savages outside of London benefit now, can we?
Honestly, there is no proper long term strategy here. It seems to change every year.
