A 30-year-old climber has died after a serious accident in the canton of Fribourg. The incident occurred while descending from the summit of the Dent de Lys..

According to the cantonal police, the accident occurred on Thursday at around 4 p.m. Two climbers were moving from the Les Paccots area, via the Dent de Lys peak, towards Sciernes d’Albeuves.

While descending from the peak, one of them had an accident and fell about 200 meters into the abyss.

The Rega air rescue service intervened at the scene, but the 30-year-old from the canton of Vaud could only be pulled out with no signs of life.

The prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident, while the causes of the fall remain unclear. The victim was in the company of a 28-year-old man from the canton of Fribourg at the time of the incident./Albinfo.ch
