Netherlands based RESiLICON announced that the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate has confirmed its Groningen project as a strategic project under the Net-Zero Industry Act. The planned facility will produce ultra-pure polysilicon and silane in the Netherlands. The company said the plant is intended to support Europe’s solar PV, battery and semiconductor industries. RESiLICON noted that more than 85% of global polysilicon production is currently concentrated in China. The Groningen facility is designed to be one of the most energy-efficient polysilicon plants globally. The project is also expected to create jobs and improve local raw material access across supply chains.
