A high level Kyiv meeting hinted at concrete plans to expand energy links and increase transport capacity, signaling closer cooperation on EU oriented reforms.
Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu in Kyiv held a meeting, during which they discussed joint energy projects, as well as the development of cross-border and logistical infrastructure between the two states.
According to Sviridenko, as published on her Facebook page, the participants discussed steps of reform towards European integration and further cooperation in these areas.
“We are grateful to Moldova for a comprehensive partnership between our countries, united by a shared aspiration to membership in the European Union. In this context, we exchanged views on the progress of implementing reforms on the European integration path in our countries.”

Specifically, joint energy projects were discussed, including increasing capacities and electricity supply, as well as the development of the Vertical Gas Corridor; the prime minister emphasized that ensuring energy independence and security is a defining factor for the region.

Also outlined were joint plans for the development of cross-border and logistics infrastructure, increasing the capacity of transport routes and expanding railway connections between the countries, to strengthen trade and transport links.
Following the meeting, the leaders reaffirmed their intentions to deepen cooperation in the respective areas and to build stronger economic and infrastructural ties.
