A quick Google search says that melatonin is only available with a prescription in Germany (not OTC). However, you can readily find it online ([example](https://www.shop-apotheke.com/arzneimittel/16910187/dr-theiss-melatonin-einschlafspray.htm)) and at drug stores in person.

So is it legally available over the counter or not? Did the law change recently?

Why do people suck at Google that much?

    https://www.google.com/search?&q=melatonin+verschreibungspflichtig

FIRST RESULT without even clicking on it!

” In den USA ist Melatonin frei erhältlich. In Deutschland ab einer Dosis von einem Milligramm verschreibungspflichtig.”

Copy to Google Translate: “In the US, melatonin is freely available. In Germany, a prescription is required from a dose of one milligram.”

The spray you linked has its ingridients listed as “0.5 mg Melatonin” which is < 1mg.

Yes, it is legally available over the counter, no, the law did not change recently.
