Its the Tories own doing, all they have to do is replace Boris with somebody else. Starmer isn’t doing anything nor is he resonating outside of London as the local elections proved. Given that Bloomberg is a pro-establishment website, expected nothing less really.
I will vote for whoever has a chance of replacing the tories, Starmer is not by definition my to-go man. What I want to know from Labour is what their position is on brexit, student loans, banning ICEs, civil service pay, housing reform, speed bumps, weed, nuclear energy.
These are just a few examples, but as you can see, it’s not just the big items that interest me. Any party that gets rid of speed bumps and writes off student debt has my vote regardless.
Except for tories under Boris (or any other incompetent charlatan in his current cabinet).
A thing unmentioned in that piece, that’s worth bearing in mind is Starmer doesn’t scare centre-right voters.
This allows them to vote Lib Dem rather than Tory in places where they are sick of this lot of Tories, but aren’t really that keen on socialism.
It’s something that happened when Blair was in power, him not being seen as too much of a threat allowed the Lib Dems to over-perform in places Labour hasn’t got a hope of reaching.
It creates a more efficient pooling of the anti-Tory majority in country within our daft FPTP system.
