Challenger banks are under increasing scrutiny over customer onboarding practices after the government was questioned about the “fairness” of how digital lenders process new customer account applications.
Kulveer Singh Ranger questioned the Treasury on Monday and said the balance between innovation and fairness “does not seem to be right”, after last month Starling Bank refused the Conservative peer a bank account without providing any reason.
