Bento found not guilty of murder of Josh Dunne

  1. Nice to see justice prevail here. Hopefully this sends a message to the feral scrotes thay the law won’t protect them.

  2. YES!

    Get in. Fuck the angles!

The idea that a young lad, in a group of young lads, away from their home further than the covid restrictions allowed….saw a foreign delivery driver get their bike stolen and THEY came to their defence?….no fucking way did that happen. When would a group of youths ever come to the defence of them?

I was pretty sure the feral youths saw an opportunity to abuse the deliveroo drivers.

  3. Glad he wasn’t convicted, but things need to change so this doesn’t happen again.

A teenager is dead, because it’s so common and accepted for teenagers to hang out in groups attacking immigrant workers (and everyone else) – There needs to be a heavier hand used in dealing with these teens, to protect everyone involved.

  4. Fucking delighted scrotes now going to complain about not getting justice, no sympathy for the cunts. Hopefully they’ll think twice about attacking a working man delivering food.

  5. I’m in full support of the verdict

However it says the guy produced a knife, I thought it was illegal to carry a knife for self defense as that shows intent to use it?

  6. I’m glad, I didn’t think he’d be found guilty but you can never be sure. Mr Bento has been put through hell and thank fuck it’s over.

I hope this whole affair leads to better safety and protection for delivery drivers.

  7. Glad he was cleared but he also spent time on remand.

Not taking a plee for manslaughter was a risk if he was convicted he’d have gotten a stiffer sentence

  8. IANAL but I am rather confused by some of the posts here. I don’t think this verdict changes anything the right to reasonable self-defence is not a new concept in Irish law and it is up to a jury to decide what that looks like in each individual case.

I don’t think this case speaks to any wider point and the judge made that pretty clear when charging the jury. His guidance was general but nonetheless clear enough that he felt doing frame by frame breakdowns of an incident could not give much picture of the accused’s experience of the incident.

  9. A great result for him. Attacked by three separate groups while trying to stop a robbery and he was protecting his buddy who got battered. Any time inside would have been a shite outcome.

Feel sorry for family of the deceased but this was the correct verdict imo.

  10. We’ve got a real problem with the DPP prosecuting people who acted in self defence. This innocent man just spent 18 months in custody. The cost of his imprisonment and trial is well into the hundreds of thousands.

  11. “When he used the knife the second time the attackers were using only their fists, the prosecution said.
The prosecution said Josh was unarmed and there was no need to use a knife against him.”

The prosecution never had been targeted by “only fists” of three people trying to beat them up, it seems. If I gather a group of people and fuck someone up using “only fists” that would seem very much criminal to me and to anyone else. Why would the target of such assault be denied their right for the defence of their health and, possibly, life? Ridiculous reasoning by the prosecution.

  12. Deliveroo workers should be vary this evening. These scrotes be about looking for them. Glad he got justice. If we could all do the same they would think twice before attacking anyone. Hard to imagine you can’t deliver food without being assaulted or robbed

  13. Stricter punishments against attacks against people like what happened before the stabbing (s) would not only keep victims of such safe, but people like Josh Dunne safe. No one should die from a stupid fight when they’re a teenager, even if they’re in the wrong.

  14. Group of 16 year olds could find me (an adult) in town, and beat me within an inch of my life and absolutely nothing would happen to them. Few warnings or whatever. Yet, God forbid I ever retaliate for fear of being charged for assaulting a minor, and they know it too.

I genuinely find teenagers terrifying these days because they can go around in groups of 15-20 and do whatever they want, consequence free and because we’re adults, we’re expected to be “better”.

So surprised at this verdict, and absolutely delighted, teenagers have been abusing their “protection” from the law for too long.

Am I happy someone died? Absolutely not.

Am I happy that a man could defend himself against one of the worst problems in Dublin and the law actually protected him? Hell yeah.

  15. Great verdict. It was clearly a case of self defence. Should never have been brought to trial.

Now the rest of the gang Dunne was violently ambushing delivery cyclists need to be lifted by the guards.

  16. Great to see.

Now bring in stand your ground laws for Ireland. The revolving door of the Irish legal system won’t control the scrote problem.

  17. >However, the prosecution said that when Mr Bento first produced the knife to the man on the moped, before anyone else had arrived, he was not acting in self-defence, but was being aggressive and “acting the hard man”.

Ffs did the prosecution let a member of the gang of youths come up with that last part.

  18. Held for 18 months without bail. Probably has to move out of the community to avoid being targeted. And the court has heard he was defending himself, so where are the assault convictions against the young men who attacked him? Is this verdict good enough?

  19. I only hope this makes it less of an occurance.. If you act like a POS.. You might die .. Everyone is aware of how out of hand this antisocial behaviour has become.. And are starting to carry weapons as a means of protection. And no jury will hold that against you. Delighted the good guy wins this one!!

  20. A punch/kick to the head can kill. And this guy was outnumbered which makes everything so much more volatile and dangerous. He was in a deadly situation and they were the ones who escalated it.

I feel sorry for him that he had to spend all this time in prison awaiting trial. I also feel sorry for delivery drivers like this who are trying to make a living and better themselves, while having to put up with jobless scumbags like this.

I’d love to know if any charges have been brought against the people who attacked him.

I also hope this doesn’t lead to an escalation in knife crime.

  21. Very content with this verdict. For far too long scumbags have been allowed to rule our streets with zero repercussions, and whilst I’m obviously not happy that a child was killed and hate that it escalated to that point, I 100% believe this was a case of self defence and the jury made the right decision. Hopefully this is the start of a change in how safe out streets are (unlikely, but for now I’ll remain optimistic)
