Is it any wonder this country is getting more stupid. Over 1.8 million children missing classes on a regular basis

Isn’t this good cause its protects the children from the leftist teachers indoctrination?
Irresponsible parenting. Unfortunately a lot of parents don’t seem to value any type of education for their children.
As someone who has dealt with the local education authority multiple times due to my daughters school failing to mark her as present when she is in, or marking absences caused by doctors / dentist appointments as ‘unauthorised’, I’d take any stats produced by the system right now with a barge of salt.
That’s what happens when people can’t afford ridiculous prices for school uniforms, or getting to and fro from school/eating once you get there, and bullying is still rife and allowed to continue.
Poverty hits more than just the ability to eat. It hits all aspects of family life. In some respects, the heating vs eating argument does a disservice to the problem.
Instead of fining try and discover why.
An ex friend of mine is a teacher who said he marked a student as absent simply because they said “yes, im here” not “yes sir” when answering the register…
His response when I asked him why was “to teach him a lesson about respect”…. hmmm
Insane how the top three comments are all refusing to entertain the idea that this could actually be caused by parental negligence. I’m sure these must just all be the best parents in the world and it’s just that the uniforms are too darn expensive!
