Jeremy Hunt urges Tory MPs to vote no confidence in Boris Johnson | Former minister says Tory party is set to lose next election because of lack of integrity, competence and vision

  1. The Tories knew this about Boris. We cannot let them pretend that they didn’t. They should own Boris for a generation.

  2. Tory leadership contest now open, Battle Royale style, full on Blue vs. Blue, in the twitter arena.

    [Hunt](https://nitter.net/Jeremy_Hunt/status/1533748133699657728):

    > The Conservative Party must now decide if it wishes to change its leader. Because of the situation in Ukraine this was not a debate I wanted to have now but under our rules we must do that.

    > Having been trusted with power, Conservative MPs know in our hearts we are not giving the British people the leadership they deserve. We are not offering the integrity, competence and vision necessary to unleash the enormous potential of our country.

    > And because we are no longer trusted by the electorate, who know this too, we are set to lose the next general election.

    > Anyone who believes our country is stronger, fairer & more prosperous when led by Conservatives should reflect that the consequence of not changing will be to hand the country to others who do not share those values. Today’s decision is change or lose. I will be voting for change

Not a top-spot contender herself, team support player Nadine “Nads” Dorries [snipes at Hunt from a distance](https://nitter.net/NadineDorries/status/1533763405844185088#m):

    > On afternoon of 23rd July 2020 when I was health minister you [i.e. Jeremy Hunt] telephoned me to tell me that we had to handle the pandemic following the example set by the East/China. That people testing + should be removed from their homes and placed into isolation hotels for two weeks.

    > You said yr wife’s family had experience of this during SARS. I said that British people would never tolerate being removed from their homes and loved ones at which point you demanded I show you the evidence for that. Your handling of the pandemic would have been a disaster.

    > Your pandemic preparation during six years as health secretary was found wanting and inadequate.Your duplicity right now in destabilising the party and country to serve your own personal ambition, more so.

    > You told others that PM and Gov would swiftly collapse on back of Brexit and you would swoop in. You told me as much in Victoria St after GE. If you had been leader you’d have handed the keys of No10 to Corbyn. You’ve been wrong about almost everything, you are wrong again now.

Meanwhile, journalist Ian Fraser, in an apparent effort to break the platform, has kicked off [an ambitious thread](https://nitter.net/Ian_Fraser/status/1533757960144535552) with reason 1/227 for Johnson’s departure (a little matter of breaking the ministerial code.)

  3. Well. Jezza is going for the king. Better be prepared to lose the whip … though I am thinking that fatty cheater might withdraw the whip from Graham Brady at 5:45pm today…

  4. Isn’t it depressing that all the media coverage today has been about how this might affect the Conservatives? There seems to be no recognition that people’s lives (and indeed deaths) have been ruined by this government.

  5. I hate to sound negative, but no. The global trend is for conservatives to completely eject reason and facts and continue to vote conservative in the face of being utterly bonkers-level wrong about everything.

Please ensure your helmet and safety harnesses are buckled and prepare for impact.

  6. Thinking of the next GE is precisely why I want Boris to remain despite hating the man. We need that rotting snake front and centre of the tory party so people don’t forget the poison that the tory party is.

Replace him with another tory and the public will forget of the shit the tories have done. The English electorate is a short-sighted bunch. Having anyone other than the tories win is difficult and it seems stacked against them with FPTP, low turnout of younger demographics and the control the right have on the print media all being factors that hinder other parties and shield the tories.

  7. Not many people are aware that Hunt’s wife does a show for Chinese state TV. You have to be well connected to the communist party to do that.

Now, Chinese security law requires any Chinese citizen to spy on behalf of the Communist Party of China when asked.

It’s impossible for Hunt to become a PM.

  8. Ruke 1 Mr Hunt. The bell tolls for thee Johnson? NO Hunt you were part of Cameron’s and May’s destruction – contributed to 50,000 EXTRA deaths from austerity between 2010-2015.

Yet Johnson is the scapegoat now? The whole damn Tory Party for the last 10 years. You were a leading part of the neoliberal privatisation, the austerity attack on normal people – the impoverishment of millions. Hunt is not better than Johnson, none of them are – they are all equally heinous.

  9. Ctrl+F “c**t”

1 result found, heavily voted down because it’s a comment in support of Boris Johnson.

You know Jeremy Hunt is speaking volumes of truth when nobody on this subreddit is calling him a C.

  10. Hunt positioning himself nicely if Boris goes I guess. He can accuse any other leadership candidates as being the same as Boris

  11. The problem I see here is that the only reason that they want to ditch him is not because they feel he had done anything wrong, but because they feel he’s hurting their chance in the next GE.

  12. The Tory MP’s should grow some balls and serve the public who elected them to serve them .

They should get rid of Boris Johnson before more damage is been down.

  13. Integrity and competence, yep, they have none of that.

However all Tory rats have constant 4K 3D 120fps 20:20 visions of money filling their cunty graspy pockets and they’ll stamp on their own mum’s face to get what they want.
