The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is urging households across the UK to check the contents of their fridges and cupboards after products were recalled. Food businesses are responsible for recalling products that are unsafe. FSA works closely with local authorities and the food industry to publish alerts to consumers when food products are recalled.
Food can be recalled for a number of reasons. This includes contamination with pathogens like listeria or salmonella that could give you food poisoning, or because of manufacturing faults, such as plastic or metal being found in the product. Incorrect or missing allergen information can also lead to an allergen recall.
This week we have rounded up product recalls from a number of supermarkets including Iceland, Morrisons and Aldi. When a product is recalled the FSA provides detailed information on why the item has been pulled from sale. Shoppers are often urged to return the product to the store, with no receipt needed.

The Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought the product and your baby has an allergy to celery do not eat it. Instead contact HiPP Organic’s customer services team on 0800 298 4477 or at hello@hipp.co.uk for reimbursement or further information.”
