GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On this “To The Point,” we talk with U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, covering a lot of ground.
Huizenga offered his take on a gunman trying to get into the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last weekend. Dozens of journalists, lawmakers and members of the administration were there, including the president, who was hustled away by security.
Huizenga condemned the actions of the gunman and said society should be doing the same.
“It should be unacceptable but because it’s Donald Trump somehow people are saying ‘Well he’s not nice, he’s mean, he does these things,’” he said. “It’s like so, wait a minute. You think that’s the same as having someone with a wink and a nod? Hey, you know, No Kings mean we can take him out, a Jimmy Kimmel joke and all these other things that are so mixed in culture right now. It should be unacceptable we should be ashamed of ourselves as a society.”
Huizenga also talks about new funding for the Department of Homeland Security, gas prices and a new farm bill on this “To The Point.”
