Edoardo Mortara was quickest in Free Practice 3, with the Mahindra Racing driver looking right at home at this Tempelhof Airport circuit. He achieved the Julius Baer Pole Position yesterday, but wasn’t able to convert it into a podium but now leads the drivers’ standings.
The top three were separated by 0.008s, as Maximilian Guenther finished 0.004s behind Mortara and teammate Taylor Barnard was in third (DS PENSKE). Pascal Wehrlein was fourth for Porsche with Jean-Eric Vergne (Citroën Racing).
As it happened…
The session began at 09:30 local time, and for the first half of the session it was Felipe Drugovich that was top of the times with a 57.720s. The Andretti driver made his debut here last year with Mahindra Racing, and will be looking to get some points on the board.
As the session continued, more drivers were getting their 350kwh laps in and taking their turn at the top. With five minutes left, it was home hero Maximilian Guenther who was top for DS PENKSE, but was soon knocked off the top spot by his compatriot Pascal Wehrlein.
EXPLAINED: What does a Formula E race weekend look like, and what’s the format?
Wehrlein will be looking for a better result after finishing towards the back as a result of a puncture yesterday, and after his teammate Nico Müller secured his first Formula E victory yesterday.
However, once the chequered flag was waved it was Edoardo Mortara who was top with a time of 57.581s for Mahindra Racing. It was a close time sheet, with Guenther second with a time 0.004s off yesterday’s Julius Baer Pole Position sitter.
