Eurovision is back! Delegations have landed/arrived in Vienna these last few days and rehearsals started yesterday. Just like last year, for the first rehearsal, the EBU releases information on the day of each reharsal, with a sets of three photographs publishe the day after. As such, today, we cover yesterday’s rehearsals, from the first half of the first semi-final (automatic qualifiers excluded). Last of the day and of the first half was the season’s favourite, Finland, with “Liekinheitin”.

What happened on stage?

This description is sourced from indications given by the official Eurovision Reddit account.

Everything seems to be very similar to the performance shown in UMK, the Finnish national selection Linda begins on stage in the middle of what looks like the ruins of an orchestra, and Pete begins in his confessional They join at the confessional, then run back off-camera towards the stage for the finale In terms of outfits, they have seen a slight update: Pete wears another dark outfit but the top is more open and, although it looks like a satin texture, seems slightly see-through Linda wears a silver dress with a similar structure to the UMK one, but with more texture, and chain-like elements woven into it There has been no news on the possibility for Linda to play the violin live on stage: the picture Linda and Pete facing each other shows the violin with a microphone, but the other one with Linda alone shows none. They were likely taken during different runthroughs of the rehearsal, but it may hint that she has performed one of these without a microphone, using the recorded music instead.

As a reminder, this was the UMK performance:

Here’s the small message Bzikebi had for the Eurovision fans after their rehearsal:

Stay tuned for further coverage tomorrow, with the rehearsals of todat, and for our live coverage on the ground starting on May 9, which will include (among other things) the full dress rehearsals and the live shows, live from Vienna!
