Are they familiar with the fact that EU fueled the maffia government with money for twelve years and doing nothing else than a muppet show in the parlaiment?
It’s good for the EU, it’s business for the EU:
First, they can identify themselfes as the other pole of any kind of identity war, where EU is the tolerant and empathic one and bad Hungary is the renitent. Just to mask out the second thing. Where it’s realy good that there is a government inflating away it’s own currency plus destroying hungarian national economy, replacing it with multinationals. Guess who got cheap employees and soft worker rights? Yes, those who count the profit.
Those EU money straight fueling their businesses too, so EU is more than responsible in this scenario.

Can anyone explain? I know were dumb, but that bad?

The problem isn’t admittance. Hungary wasn’t admitted under Orban after all.
It’s the lack of any meaningful mechanism to ensure that the members remain consistent with the EU requirements AFTER they join.
Don’t ask the French.
