Gazprom Cuts Gas Flows to Italy by About 15%, Eni Says

  1. Ok, the Russian Regime is starting to piss Europe off a little too much (Poland, Denmark, Finland, Germany and now Italy).

Let’s see what will happen now, pretty sure the Italian Putin Supporters will either cheer for this or they will start attacking the government (as usual) for backing sanctions and will try their best to put dirt in their eyes.

The fake pacifists will panic (the only thing they know to do) and will start telling the government to give in to the Russian Regime.

When people’s pockets are hit by conflicts, the “Save Ukraine” moral starts to fade.

EDIT: just checked twitter and some media on fb, some Italians are already freaking out blaming the government and NATO for this in the comments.

  2. “Reliable partner”, “Build peace through trade”, “Russia is a European country that needs to be fully engaged”. Jesus, how European leaders were so naive over the last +10 years.

  3. Oh that sucks so much man,if only Italy was connected to other countries that were rich in gas resources like Algeria and Azerbaijan,oh well i guess we’ll have to give in guys.

  4. Europe is suffering with an energy crisis!
I get it, but accepting all this, it starts to look like it is suffering from Stockhold syndrome or they are naive to what is going on and the course of action for the near future.

  5. This is just cheap Russian propaganda to spread panic and try to manipulate the market as they have been doing since April 2021. Russia has been cutting natural gas to Italy on a sustained basis since last Autumn. In the first 14 days of the current month, Russian gas flows to Italy plummeted by 73,7% compared to the same period of the last year and by 80,5% versus the first 14 days of June 2018.

In the last weekend [they sent](https://i.imgur.com/RAvXDNW.png) (from Tarvisio entry point) less than anarchy-ridden Libya (Gela) sends (i.e. very little both in absolute value and compared to Greenstream pipeline capacity), and less than Italy produces (i.e. very little compared to the 1990s). Note also the sharp difference between the constancy of flows from two reliable suppliers such as Algeria (Mazara) and Azerbaijan (Melendugno) versus Russia. Norwegian and Dutch gas comes through Passo Gries – their gas is bought at market spot prices when there is a deficit in gas supply so the lack of flows constancy must be taken for granted, but with Gazprom Italian companies have actual contracts, on paper.

The share of Russian imports among total natural gas imports fell from 48,9% in the first half of June 2018 to 10,4% this month. And Gazprom is going to cut 15%? Compared to which baseline? Who do they believe to be kidding?

Our nation is making very significant and swift progress towards independence from Russian imports. With two FSRU ships incoming and the doubling of TAP from Azerbaijan, Russian gas imports will be cut to zero within a few years.

Also, our government is studying the nationalisation of the large Lukoil-owned Sicilian oil refinery, which will also allow us to completely eliminate Russian crude imports in compliance with the sixth EU sanctions package. By the way, there were rumours that Equinor wanted to buy it in January, that would be a big thing.
