A free walk or run event will take place in Carvoeiro on Sunday, May 17, inviting participants of all ages to take part in a morning dedicated to fitness and wellbeing.
The Marcha-Corrida de Carvoeiro starts at 9.30am at the local beachside square, with on-site registrations opening from 8.30am.
Organised by the municipal council of Lagoa in partnership with the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), the event is part of the Algarve’s regional calendar of walks and runs for 2025–2026.
Designed as an informal activity, the initiative aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and reduce sedentary habits, with routes suitable for all fitness levels.
Participants can choose between two distances, 5km and 10km, both taking in the streets and coastline of Carvoeiro. The routes include a section of the well-known Algar Seco beauty spot and boardwalk, offering views of the area’s cliffs and sea.
Registration can be completed in advance by email ([email protected]) or at local sports offices and parish councils, as well as on the day of the event.
Organisers recommend that participants bring water, wear appropriate sports clothing and use sun protection.
