Jonas Lovv has given his first comments on his performance for Eurovision 2026, ahead of his first rehearsal tomorrow in Vienna, Austria.
Speaking to Nettavisen, Jonas Lovv has discussed the changes that his performance of “Ya Ya Ya” has undergone since winning Melodi Grand Prix. The biggest change since winning the Norwegian selection is that there are now two backing singers, to meet the contest rules as Jonas explains, “It’s simply because the rules in Eurovision are so strict; all vocals that are to be heard must be sung live. I have a lot of vocal effects in my song. We can solve a lot of it like we did in Lillehammer, but we have to supplement some with real vocalists.”
Jonas went on to add that the backing singers will not be seen on stage. Discussing his wider performance, the Norwegian representative added:
“It’s not “copy-paste” from Lillehammer, but it’s about recreating the same energy and the same authentic communication. That’s what it’s all about. It’s me and my band. No dancers, no ladies and butts that are going to steal the focus. It’s this mustache, whether you want it or not”
Jonas Lovv was selected to represent Norway after winning Melodi Grand Prix. The song that Jonas Lovv will perform in Vienna was written by Jonas himself and composed by Sondre Skaftun. Jonas Lovv will close the second semi-final, on May 14. Find out more about Jonas below:
